Project Horses For Forces
Last weekend, we attended the launch event of a new 501c3 organization called Project Horses For Forces. Stationed at Drakestown Equestrian in Long Valley, NJ, this organization has come together to serve military veterans of all eras with service related wounds. Project Horses For Forces leads animal therapy sessions with horses for veterans who deal with conditions like PTSD. The organization is committed to helping veterans develop horsemanship skills, including horse care and management in order to break the cycle of side effects from war, rebuild trust and return well-being to our veterans.
When we entered the event, there was a lunch followed by a ceremony to kick off the new organization. It was truly amazing watching the ceremony where each branch of the military was represented by a horse rider holding each branch flag. In just petting the horses for a few minutes, you can really feel the overwhelming calmness in the horse. We look forward to working with Project Horses for Forces by connecting them with veterans in need.
The organization is currently recruiting participants, military veteran volunteers, sponsors, donors and supplies. We encourage you, if you are able, to support this great cause. Please check out Project Horses for Forces below!
