Tom Colicchio Fighting to End Hunger in Veteran Community

You may know him as a judge on the hit TV show Top Chef, but Tom Colicchio is doing other great work behind the scenes involving food and veterans.

With Veteran’s Day celebrations upon us nationwide, Colicchio is supporting the #FoodIsFuel campaign by encouraging people in their communities to reach out to congress in support of ending hunger among veterans. You can get involved too and make sure your voice is heard by visiting the campaign website.

Colicchio also released a documentary, turned organization called A Place At The Table, both of which explore hunger within the veteran community. You can read more about that here. We were blown away to read these astonishing numbers:

“Approximately 1.5 million veterans receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, commonly referred to as food stamps. An estimated 23,000 active-duty military households are enrolled in SNAP, and 1 in 4 veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan reported that they struggled with hunger and food insecurity.”
