1st California Stand Down Event

Backpacks For Life participates in a handful of Stand Down events throughout each year on the East Coast but this year, we were able to expand our presence and help veterans on the West Coast in California!

A member of the Stanislaus County Veteran Employment Committee reached out to us in September, wondering how he could get his hands on some of our backpacks. Stanislaus County is located east of San Francisco and they have a yearly Stand Down event. We were thrilled to have someone who is living so far from our headquarters hear about our services and reach out for backpacks.

Stanislaus County has an amazing new veterans center where the committee was able to host a packing event. You can learn more about what they are doing for veterans at this center here.

It took us about 5 minutes to decide that we would do whatever it took to get 200 backpacks to California to our veterans in need. About a month later, the backpacks arrived, were packed and distributed at the October 26th Stanislaus County Stand Down event.

We are so honored to continue supporting our veterans near and in this case, far! We hope that spreading our backpacks and message will continue to encourage others to serve the veteran community!
