Homeless Veteran Outreach Award Given to BFL Founder

We’re thrilled to announce our founder, Sgt. Brett D’Alessandro, has been awarded the Homeless Veteran Outreach Award on behalf of the American Legion, Department of New Jersey.

Each year, the American Legion hosts its annual conference over the Summer in Wildwood where Brett would be honored. Due to COVID-19, the event has been cancelled so we are celebrating virtually with this announcement!

Bob Looby, Employment & Homeless Chairman for the Legion stated, “Brett is not one of those who sits behind a desk and gets paid for reviewing homeless applications, but he is a volunteer who faces our homeless and most at risk veterans on a daily basis, and truly impacts their lives with services!  Thank you Brett!”
